What Class 3 Means
Class 3 in the OSHA and ITA classification is electric motor hand trucks and hand or rider trucks. The operator walks behind the machine or rides on a small platform, and an electric drive does the pushing and the lifting.
These are the highest volume machines in most warehouses. They unload trucks, move pallets across the floor, feed pick faces and handle the horizontal work that would otherwise tie up a Class 1 forklift. Compare them with the manual alternative on our manual pallet jacks page.

Class 3 Forklift FAQ
What machines count as Class 3?
Electric pallet trucks, walkie stackers and hand or rider trucks. The common thread is an electric drive with the operator walking behind or riding on a small platform rather than sitting in a cab.
Electric or manual pallet jack?
A manual jack is cheaper and fine for occasional use over short distances. Once your team is moving pallets all day, or the floor is long or sloped, an electric truck pays for itself in throughput and in fewer back injuries.
How high does a Class 3 truck lift?
A pallet truck lifts the load just clear of the floor, enough to transport it. If you need to place pallets on racking, you need a stacker or a forklift instead.
How long does a charge last?
A full charge covers a normal shift under typical warehouse duty. Lithium packs can also be topped up during breaks without damage, so busy operations rarely need a second battery.
Do operators need training?
Yes. Class 3 machines are powered industrial trucks and operators should be trained on the model they use. We provide familiarisation on handover.
What warranty applies?
One year on the machine and five years on the lithium battery, with service from our own technicians and parts from the largest inventory in the country.
