Every rental comes with a chain lock and a charging cable, so you can park the bike safely and top it up overnight without buying anything extra.

Our technicians are in Puerto Plata, not at the end of a call centre queue. If something goes wrong we fix the bike, and if we cannot fix it quickly we replace it.

E-Bike Rental FAQ for Puerto Plata

Do you deliver e-bikes to the whole of Puerto Plata?

Yes. We deliver anywhere in Puerto Plata based on the delivery address on your rental order, and collect the bikes when the rental ends.

Does Eco Planeta give e-bike rental discounts?

Yes. Your discount is calculated automatically when you book online, based on the number of days you rent: the longer the rental, the bigger the discount. We also publish discount codes from time to time that add an extra discount at checkout.

What is included in the rental?

The e-bike, a chain lock and a charging cable. Delivery and pickup are included as well.

Where am I allowed to ride the e-bike?

On normal roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h. Take care when you share the road with traffic that moves faster than you do.

Am I allowed to use the e-bike on the beach?

No. Never ride our e-bikes on the beach. Sand and salt water damage the bike, and the repair cost is charged to the renter.

What is the range of the e-bike?

Roughly 50 kilometres. The exact range depends on your speed, how many people are on the bike and whether you pedal along.

What is the top speed of the e-bikes?

The top speed of our e-bikes is capped at 30 km/h.

Can I use the e-bike without pedalling?

Yes. Use the throttle button and the e-bike moves without pedalling, which makes it behave much like a moped.

How can I charge the battery?

Every e-bike is delivered with a charging cable that plugs into a normal outlet. It works just like charging your phone.

How many people are allowed on your e-bikes?

We have two types of e-bike: one carries a single rider and the other carries two. Never carry more people than the bike you rented is built for, because any damage that results is charged to the renter.

How do I lock the e-bike?

Every e-bike comes with a chain lock. Always chain the bike to something fixed, such as a lamppost or a fence, when you park it.

What should I do if I get a flat tire, the battery dies or I have another problem during my ride?

Contact us by phone, email or WhatsApp at +1 829-947-3944. We send one of our experienced technicians to fix the e-bike as soon as possible, and if a quick repair is not possible we replace the bike. Our Puerto Plata team is ready to help.

Riding an E-Bike in Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata is a working city with a seafront, which makes it more interesting to ride than a resort strip. The Malecón runs for kilometres along the water, the old town around Parque Central is compact and flat, and Playa Dorada sits a short ride to the east. An e-bike covers the lot without the parking hunt.

The city has hills behind it, and this is where the throttle earns its place: the climb back from the centre toward the higher neighbourhoods is a genuine effort on a normal bicycle and unremarkable on ours. Range is roughly 50 km, which is more than a full day of city riding.

Where people ride

The Malecón: the long seafront promenade, best in the late afternoon.
Playa Dorada: the hotel and golf complex just east of the city.
Fortaleza San Felipe and the old town around Parque Central.
