What Makes a Tuqai Worth Buying

A ride that stays comfortable
Full suspension takes the hit out of speed bumps and potholes, and the all terrain fat tires soak up what is left while holding grip on sand, gravel and wet tarmac.
Pedal assist or throttle
Two ways to ride the same bike. Pedal assist gives you the exercise with support behind it. The throttle takes over when you would rather arrive without the effort.
Brakes and lights built for the road
All weather brakes with the stopping power an e-bike at 30 km/h actually needs, and an integrated LED lighting system that runs off the main battery so you are visible day and night.
50 km on a charge
Enough range for a full day around a resort, a town or a jobsite, with the headroom that comes from not having to plan the day around the battery.

No installation and no charging station. The cable in the box plugs into an ordinary wall socket, and a full charge overnight is normal practice.

Buying an E-Bike in the Dominican Republic
An e-bike answers a specific problem here: distances that are too long to walk in the heat and too short to justify a car. Inside a resort, a gated community or a small town, it is usually the fastest way to move one or two people, and it parks anywhere.
Which model to pick
The Tuqai Uno has an aluminium frame and suspension at both ends, which is the one to choose if the roads you ride are rough or if comfort over distance matters most. The Tuqai Dos has a steel frame and front suspension, costs less, and is the sensible pick for smooth resort roads and short trips.
Everything else is shared: a 30 km/h top speed, roughly 50 km of range, 20 inch fat tires, LED lighting off the main battery, all weather brakes, and both pedal assist and a throttle.
Running costs
Charging is a wall outlet and a cable, and the electricity for a full charge costs a fraction of the fuel for the same distance. The parts that wear are brakes, tires and tubes, and we keep all of them in stock.

E-Bike FAQ
What is the top speed of a Tuqai e-bike?
The bikes are delivered set to 30 km/h, which suits resort roads and gated communities and is plenty for two people on fat tires. The limit is adjustable, though: on request we can raise it up to 50 km/h. Ask when you order, or bring the bike to any store.
How far does an e-bike go on a charge?
Roughly 50 kilometres. The real figure depends on your speed, how many people are on the bike, the terrain and whether you pedal along or ride on the throttle alone.
Can I ride without pedalling?
Yes. Both models have a throttle as well as pedal assist. On the throttle the bike behaves much like a moped, and on pedal assist it gives you as much or as little help as you want.
How do I charge an e-bike?
From an ordinary wall outlet, using the cable that comes with the bike. There is no special charger and no installation, and a full charge overnight is normal practice.
What is the difference between the Tuqai Uno and the Tuqai Dos?
The Uno has an aluminium frame with front and rear suspension. The Dos has a steel frame with front suspension and sits at a lower price. Both run 20 inch fat tires, LED lighting, the same 30 km/h top speed and the same 50 km range.
Do your prices include ITBIS?
Yes. The prices shown on this page include ITBIS. They are the starting price for the model, before any options or delivery outside our store areas.
Where can I see an e-bike before buying?
At our stores in Casa de Campo, Cap Cana, Bayahibe, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo. Call ahead and we will make sure the model you want to see is on the floor.

Yes. Our technicians service the same bikes we rent out every day, and we stock the parts that wear: brakes, tires and tubes.
