Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This privacy policy explains how Eco Planeta handles your personal information when you visit ecoplaneta.com, contact us, or book a rental through the website. It applies to the English, Spanish and Dutch versions of the site. How we use cookies is explained in more detail in our Cookie Policy.
Summary
- Who is responsible: Eco Planeta Technologies B.V. in the Netherlands manages this website and is responsible for the personal information collected through it.
- Analytics: we use Matomo to understand how the website is used. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we only use analytics cookies when you accept them. Without cookies we still count your visit, anonymously.
- Advertising: we advertise with Google Ads and on Facebook and Instagram. Google's advertising tag and the Meta pixel measure which of our ads lead to enquiries and bookings. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland they only run if you accept advertising cookies; elsewhere they run unless you opt out. We do not sell your personal information.
- Other companies: some pages show Google Maps, YouTube videos and EmbedSocial reviews. These load from the providers' own servers. The Checkfront booking form on our rental pages also loads Google Analytics, which our cookie settings do not control.
- Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing privacy@ecoplaneta.com.
1. Who we are
The website ecoplaneta.com is managed by:
Eco Planeta Technologies B.V., Kastanjelaan 400, 5616 LZ Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Email: privacy@ecoplaneta.com
Eco Planeta Technologies B.V. is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. Golf cart rental, sales and service in the Dominican Republic are provided by our sister company Eco Planeta Caribe Srl. When you ask for a quote or book a rental, we share the details needed to serve you with Eco Planeta Caribe Srl, which then uses them to deliver that service.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Eco Planeta Technologies B.V. and, where it handles your request, Eco Planeta Caribe Srl.
2. What information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, your message and any other details you enter, plus the page you sent the form from.
- Newsletter: your email address, when you subscribed and confirmed your subscription, and for each newsletter whether you open it and click its links.
- WhatsApp, email and phone: when you contact us through WhatsApp, by email or by phone, we receive your phone number or email address and the content of your message.
- Rental bookings: when you book a rental, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the rental you choose (dates, location, vehicle) and any delivery or contact details you provide. We do not see or store your card number: card payments are handled by our payment provider (see section 5).
- Photo and video contest: if you take part, your order number, email address, name and caption (both optional), the photos and videos you send, and when you sent them. To limit abuse, we also keep a coded (hashed) form of your IP address for 2 days. When you send an entry, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it comes from a person and not from an automated program (see section 5).
Information collected automatically
- Technical information: when your browser loads a page, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the website and protect it against abuse.
- Website analytics: we use Matomo to collect information about how the website is used: the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine or a campaign link), your approximate location at country and city level, your device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language, and which links, downloads, forms and booking steps you use. Section 4 explains how this works with and without cookies.
- Advertising measurement: if advertising cookies are on, Google's advertising tag and the Meta pixel record which ad on Google, Facebook or Instagram brought you to our website, the pages you view, and when you send our contact form, sign up for our newsletter, click a WhatsApp button or start a booking. Section 4 explains what is sent to Google and Meta.
We do not collect sensitive information such as health data, and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. How we use your information and our legal bases
- To answer your questions and send quotes. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- To process and manage your rental booking, including confirmations, delivery and support. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- To run our monthly photo and video contest, if you take part: to judge the entries, check that the winner is a customer and pay the prize. Legal basis: performance of a contract (the contest rules you accept when you enter).
- To use contest entries in our marketing: on our website, in emails, in advertising and on social media such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, where anyone can see them, together with the caption and the name you entered. Legal basis: performance of a contract (the licence in the contest rules you accept when you enter) and, for everyone who can be recognised in an entry, their consent, which you confirm when you enter. Anyone shown can withdraw it at any time: we then stop using the entry in new material and remove it from our website and our own social media.
- To send you our newsletter, if you subscribed. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
- To understand and improve the website with analytics without cookies. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful, measured in a way that does not recognise you across days.
- To recognise returning visitors with analytics cookies. Legal basis: your consent (EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland). You can withdraw it at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
- To measure our advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram and show our ads to people who visited our website. Legal basis: your consent (EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland), which you can withdraw at any time through the cookie settings link; elsewhere, our legitimate interest in knowing which advertising works, and you can opt out at any time.
- To measure which ads lead to purchases, by sending Google the contact details of customers who buy from us, converted into an irreversible code (see section 4). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which advertising works. We do not do this for customers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland.
- To keep the website secure and working, including checking that photo and video contest entries are sent by people and not by automated programs. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting our website and our visitors.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules for bookings and invoices. Legal basis: legal obligation.
We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked for them.
4. Analytics and advertising
Analytics with Matomo
We use Matomo Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service provided by InnoCraft Ltd (New Zealand). Matomo Cloud stores our analytics data on servers in Germany, with backups in Ireland. InnoCraft processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and does not use it for its own purposes. We do not use Google Analytics ourselves. The Checkfront booking form does load it, see section 5.
How Matomo works on this website depends on where you are:
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: analytics cookies are off until you choose "Accept" in the cookie banner. Until then, Matomo counts your visit without cookies: it recognises the pages of one visit by a temporary identifier based on technical details of your browser and connection, which resets every 24 hours. It cannot recognise you on a later day. If you accept, Matomo sets cookies that recognise you as a returning visitor for up to 13 months.
- Other countries: analytics cookies are on from your first page view. You can switch them off at any time through the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and show you the cookie choices instead of switching analytics cookies on.
In all cases:
- Your IP address is shortened (the last two parts are removed) before it is stored, so the stored address can no longer identify your connection.
- We honour the Do Not Track setting of your browser: if it is on, Matomo does not track your visit.
- When you use the booking system, Matomo links the booking steps and the completed booking to your visit so we can see which pages lead to bookings. If you have not accepted analytics cookies, the booking is recorded without being linked to earlier visits.
Advertising with Google Ads
We advertise with Google Ads, provided by Google Ireland Ltd (for Europe) and Google LLC (United States). To see which of our ads lead to enquiries, bookings and purchases, and to show our ads to people who visited our website before, we use Google's advertising tag:
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: the tag only loads after you accept advertising cookies in the cookie banner. Until then nothing is sent to Google Ads.
- Other countries: the tag loads from your first page view. You can switch it off at any time through the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not switch it on automatically.
When the tag runs, Google receives the pages you view, technical information about your browser, your IP address, the Google ad you clicked (if any) and the enquiries, sign-ups, WhatsApp clicks and booking starts that follow. When you send our contact form or sign up for our newsletter, the tag also sends your email address and phone number, converted in your browser into an irreversible code (a hash), so Google can match them to an ad you clicked.
When a customer buys from us, we may later send Google the same kind of hashed email address and phone number with the date and amount of the purchase, so Google can tell whether an ad led to it. We do not do this for customers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland. You can object at any time by emailing privacy@ecoplaneta.com.
For the hashed contact details, Google acts on our behalf under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms. To measure and show ads, Google also uses information from the tag for its own purposes, under Google's privacy policy. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage the ads Google shows you in My Ad Center.
Advertising with Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
We also advertise on Facebook and Instagram, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd (for Europe) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States). To see which of these ads lead to enquiries and bookings, and to show our ads to people who visited our website before, we use the Meta pixel, on the same terms as Google's tag:
- EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland: the pixel only loads after you accept advertising cookies in the cookie banner. Until then nothing is sent to Meta.
- Other countries: the pixel loads from your first page view. You can switch it off at any time through the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not switch it on automatically.
When the pixel runs, Meta receives the pages you view, technical information about your browser, your IP address, the Facebook or Instagram ad you clicked (if any) and the enquiries, sign-ups, WhatsApp clicks and booking starts that follow. When you send our contact form or sign up for our newsletter, the pixel also sends your email address and phone number, converted in your browser into an irreversible code (a hash), so Meta can match them to an ad you clicked. If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, Meta can link this information to your account. We do not send Meta information about purchases.
We also send these enquiries, sign-ups, WhatsApp clicks and booking starts to Meta directly from our website's servers at bunny.net, using Meta's Conversions API, so they are counted when your browser blocks the pixel. This copy is only sent when advertising cookies are on and carries the same information: the event, the page, your IP address, your browser's user agent, the _fbp and _fbc cookies and, for the contact form and newsletter, your email address and phone number, hashed in your browser. Meta counts each event once, even when both copies arrive.
We and Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd are jointly responsible for collecting this information on our website and passing it to Meta, under Meta's controller addendum. Meta alone is responsible for what it does with the information after that, under Meta's privacy policy. For the joint part, you can use your rights with us or with Meta. You can manage the ads Meta shows you in your ad preferences.
5. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers below, which process it on our behalf or provide part of the website, with Google and Meta for advertising as described in section 4, and with Eco Planeta Caribe Srl as described in section 1.
- bunny.net (BunnyWay d.o.o., Slovenia): hosts the website and delivers it through its content delivery network, and stores the photos and videos sent for our contest on its servers in Germany. Receives your IP address and technical request information. Privacy policy
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., United States): when you send a photo and video contest entry, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it comes from a person and not from an automated program. Turnstile only loads when you send the form. Cloudflare receives your IP address and technical information about your browser and device, and keeps an identifier in your browser's local storage (see our Cookie Policy). Cloudflare does this on our behalf, and also uses this information to improve its bot detection, for which it is responsible itself. Turnstile privacy addendum
- Matomo Cloud (InnoCraft Ltd, New Zealand): website analytics, see section 4. Privacy policy
- Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC): advertising measurement, see section 4. Privacy policy
- Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd / Meta Platforms, Inc.): advertising measurement for Facebook and Instagram, see section 4. Privacy policy
- Web3Forms (Web3Creative): receives the information you enter in our contact form and forwards it to us by email. Privacy policy
- MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania): keeps our newsletter subscriber list and sends the newsletter. Receives your email address when you subscribe and records whether you open our newsletters and click their links. Privacy policy
- AZUL (Servicios Digitales Popular, Dominican Republic): processes card payments for rental bookings. The payment page opens in a new tab on AZUL's own website, and your card details go directly to AZUL. Website
- Checkfront (Checkfront Inc., Canada): online booking system used for some rentals. When you book through it, it receives your booking and contact details. Its booking form also loads Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics from Google (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC) as soon as it opens, whatever your cookie settings on our website, because those settings do not reach Checkfront's page. Google then receives your IP address and technical information about your browser and, if your browser lets the form set cookies, that you viewed the booking form. See our Cookie Policy. Privacy policy
- Email and business software that we use to answer your messages and manage bookings.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
6. Embedded content and links to other services
Some pages show content from other companies. This content loads from their servers when the page opens, so these companies receive your IP address and technical information about your browser. They may set their own cookies when you interact with the content, for example by playing a video or moving the map. We do not control what they do with this information; please read their privacy policies.
- Google Maps (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC): maps showing our locations. Privacy policy
- YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC): videos about our products. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode where possible. Privacy policy
- EmbedSocial: shows our Google customer reviews. Privacy policy
Our website also links to other services. These only receive information from you if you click the link:
- WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Ltd / Meta): "WhatsApp" buttons open a chat with us in WhatsApp. Your conversation with us then takes place in WhatsApp under WhatsApp's privacy policy.
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd / Stripe Inc.): some product pages link to a Stripe payment page to buy Eco Planeta IQ products. Your payment is handled by Stripe. Privacy policy
- Social media: links to our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube pages. These companies handle any information you give them under their own policies.
- Eco Planeta IQ app: links to the App Store and Google Play. The IQ app has its own privacy policy.
7. International transfers
We operate in the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic, and some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States, Canada and New Zealand. When personal information is transferred outside the EEA, we make sure it is protected: through a European Commission adequacy decision (as for New Zealand, Canada and companies certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), through the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or because the transfer is necessary to carry out a booking or contract you have asked for, such as a rental in the Dominican Republic.
8. How long we keep your information
- Contact form messages, WhatsApp and email conversations: as long as needed to handle your question and any follow-up, and no longer than 2 years after our last contact, unless they lead to a booking or purchase.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address, marked as unsubscribed, so that we do not email you again.
- Bookings and invoices: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Photo and video contest: entries we use in our marketing are kept for as long as we use them, with the name, caption, email address and date of the entry as a record of permission. All other entries are deleted: those that do not win 30 days after we close that month's round, the winning entry 90 days after. The coded IP address is deleted after 2 days.
- Analytics data: individual visit data is deleted after 24 months. Reports that no longer relate to individual visitors may be kept longer.
- Advertising data: the advertising cookies expire after 3 months. Google and Meta keep the data they receive under their own retention periods.
- Cookies: see the lifetimes in our Cookie Policy.
When we no longer need your information, we delete or anonymise it.
9. How we protect your information
The website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, and we work only with service providers that protect it with appropriate technical and organisational measures. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will inform you and the authorities of a data breach where the law requires it.
10. Children
Our website is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, and in any case if you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, you have the right to:
- ask for access to your personal information and a copy of it;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to our use of your information based on legitimate interest;
- receive the information you gave us in a machine-readable format (data portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the use of your information before you withdrew it. For analytics and advertising cookies, use the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@ecoplaneta.com. We will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. You can also contact the authority in the country where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to answer your concerns first.
12. Visitors from the United States
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share it with Google and Meta for cross-context behavioural advertising, as described in section 4: under California law, using Google's advertising tag and the Meta pixel, sending Meta the same conversions from our server, and sending Google hashed contact details of customers, counts as "sharing". The categories involved are identifiers (cookie IDs, IP address and hashed email address and phone number), internet activity on our website, and commercial information (purchases).
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. The categories of personal information we collect are described in section 2, the purposes in section 3 and the recipients in section 5.
Analytics and advertising cookies are on by default for visitors outside Europe. You can opt out of sharing with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link at the bottom of every page, which lets you switch both off. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out. To opt out of the purchase information we send Google, or to make any other request, email privacy@ecoplaneta.com. You may use an authorised agent to make a request for you.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when our website or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make important changes, we will make this clear on the website.
