Cookie Policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This cookie policy explains which cookies ecoplaneta.com uses, why, and how you can control them. It adds to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information in general.
The website is managed by Eco Planeta Technologies B.V., Kastanjelaan 400, 5616 LZ Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Questions: privacy@ecoplaneta.com.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the website remember information between pages or visits, such as your cookie choices. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company, for example through an embedded video, are called third-party cookies.
The short version
- We use a few cookies that the website needs to work, Matomo analytics cookies to recognise returning visitors, and advertising cookies from Google and Meta to see which of our ads on Google, Facebook and Instagram lead to enquiries and bookings.
- In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you choose "Accept". If you decline, we still count your visit anonymously, without cookies, and neither Google's advertising tag nor the Meta pixel loads.
- Outside Europe, analytics and advertising cookies are on by default and you can switch them off at any time.
- The Checkfront booking form on our rental pages also loads Google Analytics. Your cookie settings on our website do not control it (see below).
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for the website to work and cannot be switched off. They do not require consent.
- cc_cookie (ecoplaneta.com): stores your cookie choices, so we do not ask again on every page. Expires after 6 months.
- eco_planeta_iq_session (iq.ecoplaneta.com): keeps your booking session open while you complete a rental booking in our booking system. Expires after 2 hours.
- XSRF-TOKEN (iq.ecoplaneta.com): protects the booking form against forged requests. Expires after 2 hours.
Where a page uses the Checkfront booking system, Checkfront sets these cookies as soon as the booking form loads, because the booking needs them to work:
- RES (ecoplanetacaribe.checkfront.com): keeps your booking session open while you complete a rental booking. Expires when you close your browser.
- __cf_bm (checkfront.com): set by Cloudflare, which protects Checkfront's booking form against bots. Expires after 30 minutes.
- cf_clearance (checkfront.com): set by Cloudflare to remember that your browser passed its security check. Expires after 1 year.
See Checkfront's privacy policy.
On our photo and video contest page, when you send an entry, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it comes from a person. It sets no cookies, but keeps one item in your browser's local storage, under Cloudflare's own address:
- cf.turnstile.u (challenges.cloudflare.com): used by Cloudflare's check to tell people from automated programs. Only stored when you send an entry. Stays until you clear your browser data.
See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.
Analytics cookies
We use Matomo Cloud to understand how the website is used, which pages are helpful and which pages lead to bookings. The data is stored in the EU by InnoCraft Ltd, which provides Matomo Cloud on our behalf, and is not used for advertising. Our Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
These cookies are set on ecoplaneta.com and its subdomains, so our booking system on iq.ecoplaneta.com can use the same choice and the same visitor count.
- _pk_id: recognises you as a returning visitor with a random ID. Expires after 13 months.
- _pk_ses: groups your page views into one visit. Expires after 30 minutes.
- _pk_ref: remembers which website or campaign first brought you to us. Expires after 6 months.
- mtm_cookie_consent: remembers that you allowed analytics cookies. Expires after 6 months.
Matomo may also set a short test cookie (_pk_testcookie) to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It is deleted immediately.
Without these cookies, Matomo still counts your visit, without storing anything in your browser. It then recognises the pages of one visit by a temporary identifier that resets every 24 hours, so it cannot recognise you on a later day.
Advertising cookies
Google Ads
We use Google Ads, provided by Google Ireland Ltd and Google LLC, to see which of our ads lead to enquiries, bookings and purchases, and to show our ads to people who visited our website before. With these cookies on, our website loads Google's advertising tag. Without them, the tag does not load at all. Our Privacy Policy explains what Google receives.
These cookies are set on ecoplaneta.com and its subdomains:
- _gcl_au: links your visit to the Google ads you have seen, to measure which ads lead to enquiries and bookings. Expires after 3 months.
- _gcl_aw: remembers the Google ad you clicked to reach our website. Expires after 3 months.
- _gcl_gb and _gcl_ag: remember a Google ad you clicked in an app on an iPhone or iPad. Expire after 3 months.
The tag also keeps a copy of the ad click details in your browser's local storage (_gcl_ls), which is removed when you switch advertising cookies off.
Google also uses its own cookies on google.com and doubleclick.net to measure ads and to show our ads to you on other websites. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses cookies in advertising. You can manage the ads Google shows you in My Ad Center.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
We also advertise on Facebook and Instagram. With advertising cookies on, our website also loads the Meta pixel, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd and Meta Platforms, Inc. Without them, the pixel does not load at all. It sets these cookies on ecoplaneta.com and its subdomains. Our website sets the same two cookies itself, so that the conversions it sends to Meta directly (see our Privacy Policy) can still be linked to your ad click when your browser blocks the pixel:
- _fbp: recognises your browser when you come back, so Meta can tell which of our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to enquiries and bookings. Expires after 3 months.
- _fbc: remembers the Facebook or Instagram ad you clicked to reach our website. Expires after 3 months.
The pixel also keeps a copy of the ad click and the website you came from in your browser's local storage (multiFbc, lastExternalReferrer and lastExternalReferrerTime), which is removed when you switch advertising cookies off.
If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta can also recognise you through its own cookies on facebook.com. See Meta's privacy policy and Meta's cookie policy. You can manage the ads Meta shows you in your ad preferences.
Content from other companies
Some pages show content from other companies. This content loads from their servers when the page opens, which means they receive your IP address. They do not set cookies when the page loads, but they may set cookies or store information in your browser when you interact with the content:
- Google Maps: when you use a map showing our locations. Google's privacy policy
- YouTube: when you play a video. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode where possible. Google's privacy policy
- EmbedSocial: shows our customer reviews. EmbedSocial's privacy policy
The Checkfront booking form also loads Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Ltd and Google LLC, as soon as the form opens. This is part of Checkfront's booking page and happens whatever you choose in our cookie settings. Google receives your IP address and technical information about your browser. Many browsers do not let Google Analytics set cookies inside the booking form, and then no data is sent to Google Analytics. Where your browser allows it, Google Analytics records that you viewed the booking form and sets these cookies on checkfront.com:
- _ga: distinguishes visitors with a random ID. Expires after 2 years.
- _gid: distinguishes visitors for one day. Expires after 24 hours.
- _gat_UA-5551677-20: limits how often Google Analytics sends data. Expires after 1 minute.
See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your cookie settings on our website do not control these cookies. You can block them in your browser settings (see below).
When you click a WhatsApp button, a payment link or a link to our social media pages, you leave our website. The other website's own cookie policy then applies.
How to change your cookie settings
- On this website: use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page (outside Europe it is called Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information). You can accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies there at any time. If you decline after accepting, those cookies are removed.
- Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not switch analytics or advertising cookies on automatically.
- Do Not Track: if your browser's Do Not Track setting is on, Matomo does not track your visit.
Your choice is stored for 6 months. After that we ask you again.
Changes to this policy
We update this cookie policy when we add or remove cookies. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
