Why Service Your E-Bike with Eco Planeta
The bikes we sell are the bikes we rent, so the technician working on yours has already seen every fault it can develop.
Fleet experience on your bike
Our rental bikes cover more kilometres in a month than most private e-bikes do in a year, and every one of them comes back through our workshops. The fixes that work, and the ones that do not, were learned there.
Battery health, measured not guessed
Every service includes a capacity and voltage check on the battery and an output test on the charger. You find out how much life the pack has left before it strands you, not after.
Parts on the shelf
Brake pads, tubes, 20 inch fat tires, chains, cables, chargers and batteries for both Tuqai models are stocked in our central warehouse. The usual repair is finished on the day, not after an order.
Set up for 30 km/h with two on board
A bike that carries two people at 30 km/h needs its brakes bled, its spokes tensioned and its bolts torqued properly. We check all of it on every visit, because a bicycle shop tune-up is not enough for this kind of bike.
Five stores that stock e-bikes
Casa de Campo, Cap Cana, Bayahibe, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo all sell, rent and service e-bikes. Drop the bike at whichever is closest, and if you run a fleet at a hotel or villa, the technician comes to you.
Warranty handled in house
Tuqai e-bikes bought from us carry a warranty that is honoured in our own workshop. No shipping the bike anywhere and no waiting for a manufacturer abroad to approve the job.
How an E-Bike Service Works
From your message to a bike that rides like it did on the day you bought it.
- 1
Tell us the bike and the symptom
Which Tuqai model it is, roughly how old, how it is used and what it is doing: a battery that drops from full to empty in twenty minutes, a squeal from the front brake, a motor that cuts out on hills, a display that shows an error. A photo of the display or a short video helps.
- 2
We quote the job
You get a price for the labour and for any parts we expect to need. For a standard service that is a fixed price. For a repair it is a price and a date, and the date is close because the common parts are in stock.
- 3
Drop it off, or we collect
Bring the bike to Casa de Campo, Cap Cana, Bayahibe, Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo. If you have several bikes at a hotel, villa or business, the technician comes to you with the parts and works on site.
- 4
Ride it away with a record
You get the bike back with a note of what was done, what was found and what to keep an eye on. If a part is on its way out but not finished yet, you hear about it now rather than on the road.
Service Options for Private Owners and Fleets
A private owner with one bike and a hotel with thirty need different things, so the service is organised four ways.
Standard service
The fixed price check-up. Brakes inspected, adjusted and pads replaced if needed. Wheels trued and spokes tensioned. Tires checked for wear and pressure. Chain cleaned, lubricated and measured for stretch. Gears indexed. Suspension checked for play and leaks. Every bolt on the frame, stem, bars, seat and racks torqued. Battery capacity and charger output tested. Lights, horn, throttle, pedal assist and display checked. Anything beyond the standard service is quoted before we do it.
Annual deep service
Everything in the standard service plus the jobs that are due once a year on a bike in this climate: brake fluid or cables replaced, headset and bottom bracket stripped, cleaned and greased, hub and wheel bearings checked, every electrical connector opened, cleaned and protected against corrosion, and the frame inspected around the welds and, on the Tuqai Uno, the rear suspension pivots.
Breakdown repair
The bike will not switch on, will not charge, cuts out under load, has a flat, a broken spoke, a bent rim or a brake that has stopped working. Send us the model and the symptom and we quote the repair. If you are already a service customer, we already know the bike.
Fleet plan for hotels, villas and businesses
A fixed number of visits a year at a fixed price per bike, on your site, with the parts brought along. Batteries are logged by serial number so the ones that are fading are replaced before guests notice, and you get one report for the whole fleet after each visit. If you also run golf carts, the same technician can cover both on one trip.
Repairs We Carry Out
These are the jobs that come through the workshops most often on Tuqai e-bikes ridden on Dominican roads, sand and resort paths.
Battery and charging
Batteries that will not charge, charge to full and then die in minutes, or shut off under load. Charger faults, damaged charge ports and connectors, and battery management errors. We test the pack's real capacity, fix the charging path where that is the fault, and replace the battery when it is the battery.
Motor, controller and electrics
Hub motors that cut out, grind or run rough, controllers that have let water in, throttles that do not respond, pedal assist that comes on late or not at all, displays that show an error code, lights and horns that have stopped working, and the corroded connectors and chafed wiring behind most of those symptoms.
Brakes
Worn pads and rotors, brakes that squeal, rub or pull to one side, levers that come back to the bar, pads contaminated after a ride through sand or oil, cable replacement on mechanical brakes and bleeding on hydraulic ones.
Wheels, tires and tubes
Punctures and tube replacement, worn or cracked 20 inch fat tires, loose or broken spokes, wheels out of true, bent rims after a pothole, and hub bearings that have gone rough.
Drivetrain
Stretched chains, worn freewheels, derailleurs out of adjustment or bent in a fall, seized pedals, cranks that have worked loose, and bottom brackets that have taken in water.
Suspension, frame and fittings
Front forks that have lost damping or started to leak, rear shock and pivot wear on the Tuqai Uno, cracked or torn saddles and grips, loose or broken racks, fenders and kickstands, headset play, and frame inspection after a crash.
Bikes We Service
We are the Tuqai dealer for the Dominican Republic, so both models we sell, the Tuqai Uno with its aluminium frame and full suspension and the Tuqai Dos with its steel frame and front suspension, are fully supported here with parts, warranty and technicians who ride them every day. See the e-bike range.
We service Tuqai e-bikes only. Every part for both models is in our warehouse, every fault they can develop has already come through our workshops, and the warranty is ours to honour. We do not take on other brands: without the controller, display or battery for that bike a repair turns into a guess, and a guess is not something we want to hand back to a rider doing 30 km/h.
The same workshops look after our golf carts, and the technicians who service forklifts, manlifts and cleaning equipment are part of the same team. A resort running e-bikes and golf carts can have both covered on one visit.

E-Bike Maintenance FAQ
How often should an e-bike be serviced?
Twice a year for a bike ridden most days, once a year for a bike used at weekends, and always after a crash or a ride through sea water. Near the coast the salt air is the reason for the second visit: it is corrosion, not mileage, that does most of the damage here.
What does a standard service include?
Brakes, wheels and spokes, tires, chain and gears, suspension, every bolt on the bike, a battery capacity test, a charger output test, and a check of the lights, horn, throttle, pedal assist and display. It is a fixed price, and anything the check turns up is quoted before we touch it.
How much does an e-bike service cost?
The standard service is a fixed price and we tell you before you book. Repairs are quoted per job once we have seen the bike or a clear description of the fault. Parts are priced separately and approved by you before they are fitted.
My battery charges to full and then dies in minutes. Can it be repaired?
That pattern almost always means the pack has lost capacity, usually from heat, deep discharges or age, and the fix is a replacement pack. Before you buy one, we test the charger and the charge port, because a charger putting out the wrong voltage produces the same symptom and costs far less to put right.
How do I make the battery last longer?
Charge it indoors and in the shade, not in the sun. Do not leave it flat for weeks. Store a bike you will not ride for a month at around half charge. Use the charger it came with. Most packs that die early have spent their lives in a hot garage or on an empty charge.
The motor cuts out on hills or under load. What is wrong?
Usually one of three things: a battery that sags under load because it is fading, a loose or corroded connector between the battery, the controller and the motor, or a controller that has let water in. All three are diagnosed on a normal visit and the first two are cheap to fix.
Why do the brakes squeal?
Contaminated pads are the usual cause on the coast, from sand, salt water or a splash of chain lube. Sometimes it is a pad worn to the metal or a rotor that has warped. Squealing brakes on a bike that does 30 km/h with two people on it are not something to leave until the next service.
Do you service e-bikes from other brands?
No. We service Tuqai e-bikes only, the Uno and the Dos. That is what lets us keep every part in stock, finish most repairs on the day and honour the warranty in our own workshop. For another brand we would be ordering parts blind, so we would rather say so up front than take the bike in.
Do I bring the bike in, or do you collect?
Bring it to any of our stores: Casa de Campo, Cap Cana, Bayahibe, Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo. If you cannot get it to us, or you have several bikes at a hotel, villa or business, we collect and return, or a technician works on site.
Do you service e-bike fleets for hotels and villas?
Yes. A fleet plan is a fixed number of visits a year at a fixed price per bike, on your site. Batteries are tracked by serial number so the fading ones are replaced before a guest is stranded, and you get one report for the whole fleet after each visit.
Can I get a loan bike while mine is repaired?
Ask when you book. We run a rental fleet from the same stores, and if a bike is free we can rent one to you for the days the repair takes.
Can I buy the parts and do the work myself?
Yes. Tubes, tires, pads, chains, chargers and batteries are all sold on their own, see e-bike spare parts. For anything electrical we would still suggest letting the workshop do it, because a wrong connection can take out a controller.
