Caterpillar Forklift Alternative
Caterpillar is one of the largest construction equipment manufacturers in the world and in the Dominican Republic. They build forklifts too.
In this article we compare a Caterpillar forklift with a Noblelift forklift and show you why Noblelift forklifts are the better choice.
Noblelift Forklifts: High Quality, but Cheaper to Buy and to Run
Compare Noblelift and Caterpillar forklifts and you will find that the Noblelift delivers far greater value, lower purchase costs and lower operating costs. If you have a high bay warehouse, the Noblelift is the only option, because it reaches nearly 2 metres higher.
| Specification | Noblelift FE4P40Q | Caterpillar GP40N |
|---|---|---|
| Price | USD$51,686 | 10% to 15% more expensive |
| Power source | Lithium battery | Gasoline / LPG |
| Capacity | 4000 KG | 4000 KG |
| Mast height | up to 6500 mm | up to 4570 mm |
| Warranty | one year (extended available) | one year (extended available) |
Purchase Price
The Noblelift FE4P40Q is 10% to 15% cheaper than the Caterpillar GP40N. Keep in mind that adding extras, such as taller masts, can widen the cost difference further.
Operating Costs
The Noblelift FE4P40Q is lithium powered, while the Caterpillar comes in a gasoline version and an LPG version. Because the Noblelift is lithium, it has almost no moving parts compared with gasoline and LPG forklifts like the Caterpillar. Fewer moving parts means less maintenance and therefore lower costs. On top of that, electricity costs less than gasoline and LPG. Noblelift electric forklifts comfortably beat Caterpillar forklifts on operating costs.
Load Capacity and Lift Height
Both the Noblelift and the Caterpillar carry the same 4000 kg load capacity. There is a large height difference of nearly two metres in favour of the Noblelift, though (6500 mm against 4570 mm). If you do not have a high bay warehouse this is not an issue, but it is an important factor in choosing the right forklift for your use case.
Maintenance Requirements and Reliability
As noted above, the Noblelift needs almost no maintenance, because it has virtually no moving parts. And if you do need to replace a part, all the important components are easy to reach. Caterpillar forklifts need more maintenance, and while most parts are generally accessible, that stops being true once you need to get into structural engine components.
Both forklifts carry a 1 year warranty and offer extended warranty options.
Ergonomics and Operator Comfort
Both the Noblelift and the Caterpillar give operators good ergonomics, with a good seat, easy access to the controls and good visibility around the forklift. But because the Noblelift is electric, the operator is spared almost all of the noise and the fumes of a combustion engine.
